Experience an Old Country Store in 2018
In addition to enjoying her home cooked food, Sarah’s place has gas, diesel, propane, lottery tickets, groceries, beer and wine, local products and souvenirs, and old time merchandise.
It’s fun just to come in and wander. Old time signs and license plates line the walls and original shelving and fixtures, new items mixed with old ones. The building dates back to 1934 before WWII.
Prior to becoming Sarah’s place in 2008, the Hoffman’s ran a local store in the same location for more than 60 years. Just like Sarah’s is now, their store was the gathering spot for locals, and a place to get what you need without driving miles into town, whether it be Bristol, Marion, Independence or Galax.
Sarah’s Fox Creek General Store blends the best of the old with the best of the new. It celebrates a slower pace of life in today’s fast-paced, digital culture.
(P.S. Sarah does have WIFI though, if you need to connect. Some people bring their laptops and enjoy local conversation while working leisurely, enjoying Sarah’s coffee, homemade food and desserts all the while.)
Eat Here and Get Some Gas…
There’s been a saying at Sarah’s for a long time.
A sign sits in the front window bearing the motto: “Eat here and get some gas.”
This motto also appears on Sarah’s Fox Creek General Store official merchandise. Pick up a T-shirt, sweatshirt, hat, or postcard to remember your visit to this special place along Virginia’s backroads. We carry adult (mens and womens) and youth sizes.
